If you're looking for a safe, all-natural way to deal with inflammation from arthritis, then you've come to the right place.
For decades, doctors in Europe have recommended enzymes as an option for the treatment of various forms of arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
Today, WisdomAndHealth is making an improved, professional strength enzyme blend available to you...Wobenzym PS.
What is Wobenzym PS?
Wobenzym PS is a blend of three natural ingredients specifically blended for the support and maintenance of joints, muscles, and tendons.
Wobenzym PS also works by promoting and supporting a healthy, balanced immune system, which is critical for rheumatoid arthritis and related conditions.
What is in Wobenzym PS?
Wobenzym is a simple formula, with three natural ingredients:
Bromelain - Bromelain is an enzyme which comes from the pineapple, especially the stem.
It is a gentle anti-inflammatory, and is well-known to have anti-inflammatory properties.
Rutoside trihydrate (Rutin) - Rutin is a substance found in buckwheat, asparagus, and citrus fruit rinds.
Rutin has various positive health effects, especially as an antioxidant and as an anti-inflammatory agent.
Trypsin - Trypsin is naturally produced by the pancreas. When trypsin is released from the pancreas, it helps in digestion. However, in Wobenzym PS, the trypsin has anti-inflammatory properties.
How does Wobenzym PS work?
There are two ways in which Wobenzym PS reduces inflammation:
Intestinal effects - Wobenzym PS tablets are enteric coated, meaning that this special coating protects the enzymes from stomach acids. The enzymes are then able to enter into the intestines intact.
Once there, these enzymes break down some of the bacteria that we all normally have in our intestines.
The breakdown of these bacteria then "energizes" the immune system into action.
Systemic effects - Thanks to the special tablet coating, the three ingredients in Wobenzym PS are protected from digestion.
The ingredients can then restore the balance to an immune system that is already active in response to diseases like arthritis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Does Wobenzym PS actually work?
Wobenzym PS descends from an older, European product called Phlogenzym, which is still commonly used in Germany and other European countries.
Over the years, there have been many studies looking at enzymes therapy for various diseases.
For example, a study from Germany found that Phlogenzym worked just as well as the dangerous non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug diclofenac for pain associated with osteoarthritis of the hip.
The authors concluded:
"In this study, there was no real difference between Phlogenzym and diclofenac 100 milligrams/day...Phlogenzym may be recommended for the treatment of patients with osteoarthritis of the hip with signs of inflammation..."
Ask anyone who has taken powerful drugs like diclofenac, and they will tell you about some of the potential side effects.
They're not nice at all!
Interestingly, the dose in Wobenzym PS is higher than the original Phlogenzym formula, suggesting that Wobenzym PS may work better for some folks compared to the older Phlogenzym formula.
Does Wobenzym PS have side effects?
Some people may experience diarrhea and excess gas, especially when taking Wobenzym PS for the first time.
If this happens, try taking Wobenzym PS less frequently.
Can I break the pills in half? Can I crush them?
You should not crush or break these tablets. They have a special coating to protect the natural ingredients from the harsh acids in the stomach.
When will is start working?
It's hard to say when you will start feeling better after starting Wobenzym PS.
We're all different, and we all respond differently to natural products.
At minimum, we recommend taking Wobenzym PS 2-3 times a day for 30-60 days before deciding if it's right for you.
Warning: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, suffering from bleeding disorders or liver damage, or if you are taking anticoagulant drugs like warfarin, please consult with a healthcare professional before using this product.
Are there other concerns?
Do NOT take Wobenzym PS with milk or any hot drink, as the milk or hot drink may compromise the enteric coating.
We would also advise trying Wobenzym PS for 3-6 weeks before deciding whether or not it is helping your particular condition.
What's in the bottle?
Available in bottles of 100 and 180 easy-to-swallow enteric coated tablets.
Frequently Asked Questions
So is Wobenzym PS like an anti inflammatory food?
We wouldn't call this product a "food," but it has ingredients that are found in foods, such as bromelain from pineapple.
Can I take Wobenzym along with my pain medicine?
It's possible that taking both pills together will upset your stomach, as many pain killers (especially NSAIDS) can commonly cause some stomach upset.
Other than that, there should not be a problem taking them together as long as you take them one or two hours apart.
Can I take Wobenzym with food?
Yes, you can take it with food. However, please note that hot (temperature) foods can cause the coating to break down.
Is Wobenzym good for Crohn's Disease?
Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are inflammatory conditions of the upper and lower bowels. So while Wobenzym might be useful, we recommend trying our curcumin turmeric supplement instead.
Is Wobenzym the same as glucosamine?
Glucosamine is a sugar which is used by our bodies to make glycosamines, which are the basis for a number of tissues in our joints.
This is completely different from Wobenzym.
Can I use Wobenzym and Glucosamine Together?
We see no reason why you cannot take these together.
However, you may experience some mild stomach disturbances, such as gas, cramping, and bloating.
If this happens, simply space them apart by at least an hour.
What's the Wobenzym dosage for arthritis?
We recommend starting with one tablet daily for a week, then increasing it to one tablet twice a day for a week, then one tablet three times a day.
What is the Wobenzym dosage for fibromyalgia?
Same as arthritis above.
