What is TENS? 

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a non-invasive, drug free method of controlling pain by the transmission of electrical stimulation to the body's nerve or muscle fibers through the skin.

Pain relief or suppression is achieved by: Suppressing the transmission of pain in nerves (Gate Control Theory) and increasing the discharge of the body's endorphins, which reduces the sensitivity to pain in the central nervous system (Opiate Release Theory). 

Does the TENS deliver drugs or medicines to my back?

No. The WiTouch does not contain or deliver any medicine to the lower back. So you can continue taking your oral pain pills if you want, although the Witouch may cause you to take less medication! 

We do not recommend using back pain patches like Imbue or Salonpas with the WiTouch. 
 

Can I use TENS if pregnant?

The safety of TENS in pregnancy has not been established. Therefore, we do NOT recommend using any TENS unit during pregnancy. 

Can I use the WiTouch for other parts of my body?

The WiTouch is specifically designed for the lower back. Thus, we do not recommend that you use it anywhere else. 

What if it's hot and humid? Will the WiTouch stay in place?

Heat, humidity, and perspiration can affect the gels pads, but not the device itself. 

Can I use the WiTouch while sleeping?

We do not recommend using the WiTouch while sleeping. If you need pain relief while sleeping, try one of our pain relief patches. 

Should I use the WiTouch while driving?

We do not recommend using any TENS unit while driving or operating any machinery or electrical equipment. For back pain relief while driving, try our ProBack. 

How long do the batteries last?

The WiTouch uses two AAA batteries, which should last around 150 treatments. The remote uses a CR2032 lithium battery, which should last a year or more. 

Do I need the gel pads?

Absolutely. Do not use the WiTouch without the gel pads. The WiTouch comes with 5 pairs. Additional pads are available separately  Each pair of gel pads should last 3-5 applications.
